Kyle groaned as his alarm went off. He hit the snooze button about to head back to sleep when he remembered that he had to take Auden to the airport today. He let out a long breath before getting out of bed and jumping in the shower. Kyle quickly got dressed and left a note for Athena in case she…
Auden finally finished packing all of her clothes for the next three weeks in two large suitcases when she heard a knock on the door. She sighed, a little dissapointed her dad wasn’t home to say goodbye to her but opened the door with a forced smile anyway. “As ready as I’ll ever be.” She responded to Kyle’s question, grabbing her purse and attempting to drag her suitcases over to the door. Kyle, being the gentleman he is, of course took the liberty of carrying them for her to his car. “Thank you.” She said as they walked outside. She took one last look at her house and smiled before locking the door and walking back over to Kyle’s car. “I know I’ll be back in a few weeks, but I honestly cannot help feeling like I’m leaving forever or something.” She said, letting her honest feelings out. She tried faking her happiness but for some reason her mood was a total drag today.
Kyle could tell that Auden wasn’t feeling so great. He put her bags in the car and stood next to her as she took one last look at her house. He put her arm over her shoulder and kissed the top of her head. “You’re going to be okay Auden. I can promise you that.” He gave her a soft smile and opened the passenger door for her before running around to the drivers side and getting in. Kyle pulled out of the driveway, glancing at Auden who just stared out the window. He tried to think of something to get her mind off of things. “Hey, do you remember that trip we took with my parents in 4th grade? When they took us to that camping ground and you and I had to share a tent? Oh, those were good times!” Kyle laughed as he recalled the memory.
Auden couldn’t help but smile while thinking aout the fourth grade camping trip. “Those were great times, I remember you not wanting to sleep close to me because apparently girls had cooties.” Auden recalled, laughing and shaking her head. “But, I was cold so you did anyway, because you care about me.” She teased, pushing his arm. Looking out the window at all the buildings, she let her mind wander, “We had a lot of good times, didn’t we?” She asked, looking over at him as he concentrated on driving.
Kyle laughed as she spoke. “You’re wrong about that.” She looked at him confused. “I didn’t want to sleep close to you because I was afraid that I would have the urge to kiss you….which I did have the urge to do.” Kyle let out a small laugh and looked at Auden who seemed surprised. “Of course I cared about you. You were my best friend. Now, not so much.” She rolled her eyes and he couldn’t help but laugh. Kyle smiled as he got onto the highway, “Yeah, we did. A lot of good times. Tell me what was on of your favorite memories with me?” Kyle glanced at her quickly with a serious look.
